SMC has further extended its range of electric actuators with the new LEF slide table series. With a choice of drive methods between ball screw and belt driven, position repeatability is available at ±0.02 and ±0.1 mm respectfully. The ball screw specification can operate with loads as high as 45kg in horizontal and 20kg in vertical applications while the belt drive specification provides a maximum stroke of 2000m and can operate at speeds as high as 2000mm/s. Both servo and stepper motor types are available allowing the LEF to provide application solutions over a wide operating range.

SMC has now added to its range of vacuum pads through the development of the new ZP2 mark-free series. These pads are ideal for applications where adsorption marks must not be left on workpieces. Four pad ranges have been developed to minimize the transfer of rubber constituents. The halogenated NBR pad minimizes the transfer of rubber constituents that are supposed to cause adsorption. The stuck fluororesin type pad uses a fluororesin sheet that is baked on the pad contact surface. This design prevents the transfer of rubber particles. The resin attachment type pad uses PEEK material as the pad adsorption surface.

Proving SMC is always working towards product enhancement we have updated our IZS31 series ionizer. The new body mounted autobalance sensor achieves ion balance by detecting the current returning from the ground. An alarm output prevents the charging of work pieces. Charged work pieces can result in equipment control loss. Also added is a new low maintenance type cartridge designed with an air sheath to protect the electrodes from contamination during operation. Electrode needles are available in tungsten and monocrystalline silicon. Finally a 1-5V analog output has been added to the output of the IZS31 with the use of a feedback sensor, allowing greater control during operation.
