Energy Costs
There is real concern that energy costs will move higher in 2008 and 2009 as electricity and gas prices will be increased by the suppliers, so the effective management of an organisation's energy usage makes good business sense. Reducing the consumption of energy in a sensible manner by eliminating unnecessary usage and wasteful practices will produce both environmental and economic benefits - and reduces greenhouse gas emissions.

A Sample of the SMC Energy Saving Product Range

	ASQ/ASR Air Saving Valves A combined regulator and flow control valve integrated into one unit. By decreasing the pressure of the return stroke on actuators, the demand on compressor operation can be reduced, thereby lowering the costly running times.
	VMG/KN Blow Gun/Nozzles A blow gun with a range of nozzles. Compressed air consumption may be reduced during blowing operations.
	VBA Booster Regulator A regulator which can boost pressure at a specific point in the main airline. Pressure generated by the compressor could in certain circumstances be reduced when the VBA booster regulator is used to raise pressure to the level required for a particular application.
	VXZ Two Port Process Valve A two port valve for switching on and off the air supply to a machine. Wastage of compressed air is prevented by closing off the air supply to a machine during periods when there is no production. A PneuAlpha controller can be used to control the on and off times.
	PFM Digital Flow Switch A flow switch which monitors air line pressure. Wasteful leaks may be identified and the wasted volume may be measured accurately.
